Beyond Rain Man - What We Now Know About the Wide and Wonderful Autism Spectrum

Speaker: Anne K. Ross
Date: Thursday, October 20th, 2016
Time: 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Although one child in 68 is now diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, psychologist Anne K. Ross was stunned when her son was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in 2004. Consequently, the diagnosis propelled her more deeply into her life’s work with children on the spectrum. Anne K. Ross will read from her new book (Beyond Rain Man: What One Psychologist Learned Raising a Son on the Autism Spectrum), answer questions, and facilitate a discussion with parents, caregivers, and professionals about identifying autism spectrum disorders, general and special education, and autism services.  Beyond Rain Man has been endorsed by Temple Grandin, Tony Attwood, Graeme Simsion, Simon Baron-Cohen, and others in the field of autism.  Autographed copies will be available for purchase at the talk.

Anne K. Ross is a school psychologist with 31 years experience in Bay Area public schools and the mother of two young adult sons. She has a doctorate in psychology and an MFA in creative writing.
