Is Learning Really Fun? Some Thoughts About Anxiety and Learning

The interference of anxiety in the learning process as well as the anxiety of learning will be discussed, drawing from neuroscience, psychoanalysis, organizational psychology, literature as well as from everyday life.

Candis Cousins, PhD has addressed educational and psychological issues with children and their families for over 40 years.  Dr. Cousins worked with neuropsychological learning disorders at Reach for Learning in Berkeley and received her doctorate in psychology from the Wright Institute in 1984.  She has been the Associate Editor of The Educational Therapist journal and published articles about clinical work with parents, the evaluation of learning disorders, and the interface between technology and learning disabilities.  Dr. Cousins leads a training seminar for Learning staff at Ann Martin Center and has a private practice in psychotherapy in Oakland.
